Yonex EZONE Ai 98 Lite Tennis Racquet Review

Yonex has been the leading manufacturer of some of the most popular tennis racquets on the market.

If not the features, one thing they surely beat their opponents with is the appealing design and aesthetics of their rackets.

One of the best sellers of 2018 so far is the Yonex EZONE Ai 98 Lite which offers an all-around performance and makes tennis very much enjoyable for you.

Yonex EZONE Ai 98 Lite

Today, we will be looking at how Yonex AI 98 Lite can help you perform better on the court.

Technical Details

With a 98 square inch head size, this racket is perfect for nearly all types of players but intermediates and advanced tennis athletes will benefit the most.

It weighed only 258 grams which I think makes it one of the light weight rackets on the market. With a standard length of 27 inches, EZONE Ai 98 Lite features exclusive H.M. Graphite B material which adds a bit of flex and extreme level of durability.

It is nanometric and has a quake shit gel for comfortability with a standard string pattern of 16×19.

This racket also features isometric technology which maximizes its sweet spot and the new grommet system really helps to generate top spin along with deep and shallow grooves.

The Good

Below are the key features of Yonex EZONE Ai 98 Lite.

Easy To Use

If your tennis racket is not easy to use, you won’t enjoy playing your game and maintaining focus can be difficult. It allows you to move briskly on the court, especially with those lateral movements.

Above all, it is arm-friendly which makes it perfect for beginners to play with. I really believe that it has a very much similar play style to that of HEAD MicroGel Radical, HEAD Ti S6 and Prince Textreme Tour 95.

In modern day tennis, you need a racket which performs with speed and maximum precision. Its head is quite speedy and helps to generate extra top spin on the ball.

Stability

Despite its extremely lightweight profile, I doubted its stability but I was wrong. It is highly stable and isn’t unsubstantial or flimsy at all. This gives you a really solid and responsive feel.

String

You will benefit a lot from its co-poly string and since it is strung low, you will get a very nice pocketing effect along with some extra power in your shots. Moreover, you will also enjoy its polyester strung high.

In terms of power, I feel it is very much similar to that of Aero Pro Drive, but with more control and power.

While it comes pre-strung but its control and power will depend a lot on how you customize it later on. I would recommend going with a hybrid setup.

Moreover, the spin also depends a lot on the string bed. It naturally gives a lot of top spin and helps you with more precise shots.

O.P.S Technology

O.P.S stands for Oval Pressed Shaft which is a rounded shaft corner and this provides you with an amazing level of flex. This also gives the shaft extra width, dramatically increasing its stability and thus increasing the contact time of the ball on its string bed.

A lot of users say that OPS technology helps to nicely optimize the ball spin along with directional control.

Isometric

The Isometric technology comes with an improved grommet system, giving you a deeper and shallower groove in its frame. It also provides you with more EZONE Ai and a maximum sweet spot.

Off-Center Hits

Because a lot of players catch the ball at the top of the racket’s frame, its Off-Center Hits can really help you deliver that ultimate swing speed and maximum power. You will be able to hit the ball with greater impact both on dynamic angles and some lethal attacking shots.

Trans Weight System

With the new Nanometric material used in its construction, it really improves the bonding strength between carbon fibers right at its center and the bottom of the frame.

This dramatically helps to reduce the weight shift towards the top of the frame. In turn, it gives you a racquet head which is able to react fast for some quick maneuverability and also produces a super-fast swing speed in Yomex history.

Dual Shut System

Its dual shut system really helps to improve the comfort and control with every stroke. The grommets are made shockless at the bottom of the frame and this nicely dampens all kinds of vibrations.

Moreover, its Quake Shut Gel technology which is integrated inside the grip of the racket gives you a comfortable feel and reduces the vibrations around the grip by more than 50%.

The Bad

Below are some drawbacks we found in Ai 98 Lite.

Pre-Strung or Unstrung

While advertised as unstrung, a lot of users were surprised that I came pre-strung. This means you won’t be able to customize its string bed with your desired string tension. You may have to unstrung it again and string it back.

No Warranty

Unfortunately, this racket doesn’t come with any manufacturer’s warranty for defects. Don’t worry as Yonex promises to deliver their product in the best condition.
