- 2 Why Choosing the Right Tennis Shoes for Flat Feet is Important?
11 Best Tennis Shoes For Flat Feet Review
Having suffered from flat feet myself, I really had a problem with activities which required physical labor and tennis was one of those.
So, after a week of in-depth research, I pulled out 11 of the best tennis shoes for you. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and read through my honest reviews.
ASICS Men’s Gel-Game Point Tennis Shoe
ASICS is probably the best brand of tennis shoes and the Men’s Gel-Game Point is typically made for flat feet. It offers great protection and comfort on the court and are overall a great choice to start with.
This tennis footwear come with a leather upper part and a built-in mesh panel which ensures proper ventilation and that your feet stay cool during the session. This leather is actually very strong and durable and increases the lifespan of your shoes while the mesh allows maximum air flow because too much sweat on your feet can result in bad odor and even fungi build-up. Of course, no tennis player would be comfortable if heat is building up inside his or her shoes.
Another thing we liked about this shoe was the excellent support it provides to your arch and keeps the foot in proper alignment. This makes these shoes extremely comfortable and cozy.
But one thing which I really loved is that these shoes help me move in a natural way which is great.
Overall, it has a nice cushioning on the footbed, thanks to its memory foam which supports your arch and reduces pain.
- High quality synthetic material used in construction which makes it durable
- Tough rubber sole which offers proper shock absorption
- Gel cushioning
- Built-in mesh to make the shoes breathable
- Higher price models don’t come with high comfort and quality
ASICS Men’s GEL-Resolution 6 Tennis Shoe
The ASICS Resolutions 6 is a next level tennis shoe made for flat feet and has an exceptional performance. Its offers a great level of comfort, stability and durability and is better than ASICS Men’s Gel shoe.
While the fit and feel is pretty much the same, what’s new is its mid foot support system with external heel collar, helping you to get a more natural movement while playing and also avoid twisting as much as possible.
The moment you slip your foot inside this shoe, you will get an idea of how comfortable they really are. Its upper has a very soft and supportive feel and flexes naturally with the movement of your foot. Also, the extra gel cushioning in the midsole offers more protection from harsh landings and helps you recover fast. This extra cushioning also resulted in better performance and more aggressiveness in the game.
It also comes with built-in mesh which offers extra breathability during the entire session. Of course nobody wants hot air getting trapped inside their shoes and resulting in any discomfort.
The most important thing in tennis shoes made for flat feet is the arch support and Resolution 6 is of no exception to this. It offers enough support for aggressive movements and gives you a natural feel while playing.
- Constructed from imported quality materials
- Rubber sole with enough gel cushioning for comfort
- Extra durable AHAR plus outsole
- Built-in mesh for breathability
Babolat Men’s Propulse 4 All Court
Babolat Men’s Propulse 4 All Court is one of my favorite picks in terms of the gel cushioning and ventilation it offers. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box and feel very durable. The shoes will help boost your confidence and allow you to give your best performance on the court.
They have also improved a lot of their features like the improved arch support and stability along with extra gel-cushioning that gives proper shock absorption from hard landings and also gives the extra support for those rigorous movements. Don’t worry about those sudden twists as these shoes will help prevent them as well.
And despite the shoe may feel bulky out of the box, it is actually very light and you’ll figure that out from the moment you wear them on and play on the court.
I personally think that comfort is what makes these shoe great plus the fit to true size thing. A lot of tennis shoes in the market have confusing sizing options and this can make it difficult for you to pick the right one.
Though it has got a great arch support, I wouldn’t rate the built-in mesh for ventilation much. It does keep your feet dry for a long time but you may feel some heat build-up as you play.
Overall, these shoes offer a great traction with no slipping on the hard courts and an excellent grip which keeps you stable.
- Durable, comfortable and snug fit

Why Choosing the Right Tennis Shoes for Flat Feet is Important?
While for most of the people flat feet may not appear like a big problem but those who play tennis on a regular basis or even for recreational purposes only can tell how hard it can be.
What are Flat Feet?
Flat feet are often referred to as fallen arches because in this condition, your arch is very low to the ground or totally flat.
A normal foot usually has a curve in the middle and this part is actually the arch. People who have flat feet tend to have tendons that do not pull together properly and this results in dropped arch or no arch at all. Thus known as flat foot!
The best way to figure out whether or not you have fallen arches is by this:
- Wet both of your feet
- Now stand on a flat surface so that when you lift off your feet, a footprint is left behind
- Now, step away and examine your prints
- If the imprints of the bottom of your feet are complete, then you have flat feet, otherwise you have normal ones
Normally, when we are toddlers, our feet naturally tend to be flat and as we grow, the tendons pull together and the arch is gradually formed.
However, in some individuals, tendons don’t pull together due to some reasons and this results in a permanent arch drop.
Most commonly, the main reasons for flat feet include:
- By birth abnormality
- Tendons which are torn and never repaired
- Damaged or inflamed posterior tibial tendon or PTT. The PTT helps connects from your lower legs, along the ankles and to the middle of your arch
- Dislocated bones or even broken bones
- A health condition of bones like rheumatoid arthritis
- Nervous problems
- Heredity but it is quite rare
It has been also observed that individuals who suffer with obesity and diabetes sometimes tend to develop flat feet even though they had normal in the past. Some other possible reasons may include aging and pregnancy in women.
How Flat Feet Affect Your Performance On the Tennis Court?
I don’t have any intentions to demotivate you from playing tennis, but if you have big tennis dreams, flat feet could be a problem. Though there are several treatments and measures such as a proper footwear that can help overcome it, but here are some possible drawbacks if you don’t take any precautions.
As I mentioned in the beginning, that a whopping 30% of the world’s population have flat feet. It can cause trouble to your game of tennis one of which is pain which can be very intense in some conditions.
One of the most common things you’ll face is pronation which is a normal rolling in of your foot at the end of every step. It helps to absorb impact on the feet. In case of flat feet, it would result in over-pronation which goes beyond the necessary point and result in minor to extreme pain.
When over-pronation occurs, your ankle joints are extended. This will result in the rotation of lower leg bones and upper leg bones inwards. As a result of it, it would put stress which can be less or more and cause pain on your ankles, lower leg muscles, knee joints and even your hips.
You may even be more susceptible to shin splints, back problems and tendonitis in your knees since tennis also involves a lot of running to and fro on the court.
Keeping all that in mind, now bring it into perspective when you are on the court and playing with your opponent.
Will you be able to focus on the game properly when there is a constant pain lurking in your lower body every time you run and stop?
So, the best way to overcome flat feet is to first consider it getting properly treated via a doctor and at the same time getting a proper foot wear which is designed for individuals with fallen arches.
Tennis shoes for flat feet are designed to naturally give a lift to the mid-section of your foot to create that arch gap and also preventing the over-pronation. This gives you more stability and motion control while playing.
Though I’ve done my best to list down the best recommendations of tennis shoes for fallen arches on the market, still consider these three important factors when buying one:
- The outer sole of your shoe will only bend at the toe area and never on the middle where your arch is
- The back part of the shoe is always rigid and will not bend forward. This adds more support to the heel bone
- The toe box of the shoe is wide enough to accommodate wider feet because individuals who have fallen arches naturally have wider feet
Another thing you may consider adding to your tennis shoes is a pair of insoles.
Insoles helps to add more firm support for your heels, arch and metatarsal bones. It helps to align the gait in place and elevates any stress on your lower body parts.
Another thing I would highly recommend is stretching after every session of playing tennis. Not only your hams and quads but also the arches of your feet.
The best way is to sit on a chair with your feet flat on the ground and resting on top of dishtowel. Now, gradually curls your toe under and try to grasp the towel. Once grasped, flex your foot towards the sky and lift the towel off the ground as high as you can. Repeat this exercise with each foot at least 20 times. This will help to tighten your tendons and naturally form that arch.
Rest, you should always consider getting the best tennis shoes for flat feet. Without a proper foot wear, it would be practically impossible overcome the condition properly.
So, that’s it tennis freaks. I’ve played my part in honestly delivering all the information that will help you get rid of your fallen arches and perform the best.
Now, it is your turn to choose the best option from the options available above.
